Subject:Pink Mafia ICC Party
Security:Public

A great big hey to all my fellow Camarilla members.

Summer isn't over yet, but talk of ICC has already begun. Never leave planning until the last minute when there's a party involved....

The Pink Mafia is throwing a party at ICC, and this is one bash you won't want to miss. Brave the wilds of the city and make your way to the Safe House Bar on Friday between 5:30 and 7:30pm. There will be food, soda, and of course, a Best Dressed competition with prizes donated by the Safe House.

Come late or leave early: you can stay the whole time or just stop in for a quick bite. Full details and tickets are available at http://www.whatistheguido.com/pinkmafia/

All proceeds will be donated to our charity of choice, the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center!

And remember, there will be punch and cake -- more fabulous than punch and pie!

If you have questions, please e-mail me, and please forward this announcement to any appropriate list.

My assumption that you would all be moved over to the new us-society-pride Camarilla email list (us-society-pride@cammail.white-wolf.com) from cam-pride was incorrect.

The cam-pride email list no longer exists. The replacement list, using the spiffy, new Camarilla Society naming convention, is us-society-pride.

If you wish to subscribe, you'll want to go to http://cammail.white-wolf.com/mailman/listinfo/us-society-pride. I apologize for any inconvenience. On the upside, subscription is automatic if your email address and membership info are up to date in the CRD.

Hi! This is your moderator and community liaison, Chuck Childers. I'm writing this to note that the cammail list name has changed from Cam-Pride to US-Society-Pride. The name change is part of a Camarilla name standardization initiative. I'll miss the friendly gooniness of "cammunity," but time marches on.

Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, they did not transfer the cam-pride email subscribers (which is prob'ly most folks reading this, plus some others) to the new list. This might be something they're still working on (hopefully). I would do it myself, but I can no longer see the old cam-pride list. However, if you are impatient, you can sub to the new list the normal way, by going to http://cammail.white-wolf.com/mailman/listinfo/us-society-pride and following the instructions there.

UPDATE: Scotty was just automatically subbed, so things are looking up. You all will prob'ly receive some sort of subscription notification soonly.

I've been told that the opening for Pride Society Liaison will be advertised soon as part of a combined solicitation for several Liaison openings. Stay tuned. As was noted waaaaaay back when, I was just on board to get this thing (re)started and to hand it off to someone younger and prettier (or at least with a life less impacted by change). In the meantime (which has been much longer than I originally presumed), I'm just doing the most basic of liaison functions. "Hi, I'm Julie..."

Just some notes:

The Pink Mafia will be hosting a shindig at ICC, Oct 27. Proceeds will benefit the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center. For more info, go to http://www.whatistheguido.com/pinkmafia.

If you know of folks, GLBT or "friends of," let them know about our Camarilla society. (That word. "Society" makes me think we should have floppy hats and drink tea. I'm not sure where I'm getting that image from. Maybe Tony's character.)

Hrm. What else...

I'm going out on a date on Friday. Very nice guy. And - given my (lack of) history in actually dating - possibly a sign of the End Times.

(Yes, I'm sure that's of great interest to the commun... society.)

So, topic: Camarilla members dating within the club. Yes, no, whatever? Advice? Discuss.

A great big HEEEEY! to all my fellow Cammies!

I know EClipse is on everyone's minds, but it's time to start thinking ahead and SAVE THE DATE FOR OCTOBER 27!

On October 27th Pink Mafia will be celebrating one great year of Fun for Everyone with a birthday bash at Milwaukee's own Safe House!

The party is Friday of ICC from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, so you can squeeze it in between games! There will be food, drinks, and of course, cake! The cost is $25 and proceeds will benefit the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center, and you can purchase your tickets at http://www.whatistheguido.com/pinkmafia

Tickets gain you entrance to the party, food, soda, and entry into our Best Dressed competition where Mafiosos will compete for great prizes!

For tickets and information:

http://www.whatistheguido.com/pinkmafia

Remember, our motto is fun for everyone -- this event is open to the public!

Security:Public

Hey everyone --

The Pink Mafia is throwing a party at the Safe House in Milwaukee during ICC. Proceeds benefit the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center.

(Friday from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, free food and drink! You know you wanna come!)

Anyways, we are considering adding a silent auction, a small one (2 to 5 items), and so here is my question:

What kind of items are you willing to spend money on? We're talking in terms of starting bids between $25 - $75, so if we have an auction it'll be reasonably big ticket items.

Some examples are:

A hand made quilt with a pride/raindbow theme
A custom made corset (value up to $300)
Rhinestones (like, diva-dra queen style)
Dinner at a restaurant with a local food critic (only useful to local residents, but still cool)

Anyways, thoughts or feed back welcome. Please note, this is NOT an ICC or Camarilla event. It is being hosted by people who just happen to be Camarilla members.

Heylas,

Have we got any updates for events at ICC? Who will be there? I mean, I'm all for putting a little rainbow sticker on my badge so people can identify me, if we don't end up having any formal events. I'd just like to know who else to expect to see there and hunt down. If there's anything I can do to help plan a party/event/somesuch, just let me know and I'll be happy to...

I'm thinking up a background for my Awakening character, and thought I'd seek connections among Cam-Pride players (if nothing else, to broaden the topics of conversation in this community). I've only had Mage: The Awakening for a couple of days, so this is still all broad strokes.
Enter, Thales...Collapse )
I tend to travel, so my character will also. Background connections outside of my region make sense. I'm also a fairly eloquent writer (and imprudently immodest) for any roleplay that requires email.

Subject:ICC Get Together? Other updates...
Security:Public

After some good initial communication, I've heard no more from the OOC Programming Lead, Jenn Hutt, at ICC, so I don't know the status of the Cam-Pride meet-and-greet. I'll continue trying to contact her and see what shakes out. If nothing else, Cam-Pride can get together on an ad hoc basis for dinner or something.

Also, after saying he'd set up the list, the Cam's list guy has gone silent. He did create one of the Forsaken lists I asked for (forsaken-ST), but there's 5 other lists, Forsaken shtuffs & Cam-Pride, that I'm waiting on, so maybe he's just in the process.

So, I'm not forgetting you all, just movin' slowly.

While it's not good timing for the community, I'll have a lot more time after ICC to work on cohering the group.

At least, up north, as it were....

From CBC:

The Liberals' controversial same-sex marriage legislation has passed final reading in the House of Commons, sailing through with a vote of 158 for and 133 against.

Of course, we may have to revisit this in a little while, as our Conservative party leader has said that *if* that party gets into power, they will bring up the bill again to try to change it.

In the meantime, for all my friends who have wanted to get married, I'm celebrating.

Subject:Updates for Cam-Pride

Hi! For those who joined late, I'm Chuck Childers, Cam-Pride Community Liaison (also, Camarilla Busybody and Worldwide Werewolf Guy). I'm trying to revitalize the Cam-Pride Community, hopefully getting it to the point where it's self-perpetuating and offers activities and services to the Cam's LGBT community and our friends.

We're currently up to 20 members. Not bad, but less than I'd hoped. Spread the word. I'll zap a msg to general-ooc.

I haven't heard from Jer Brown, US ANC Communities, since setting up the community and getting his okay to start things up. I also didn't see anything from Communities on this month's US NC report (Camarilla communities fall under the US NC). I'll follow up. I also need to check to see what additional resources we can get, such as website, etc.

I've sent a request through (hopefully) proper channels to get a Cam-Pride email list set up on the Camarilla servers.

I've contacted the OOC Programming Lead at ICC to check whether we could get some space for a meet & greet.

Scott sent a msg to Sodom-by-Night, the non-Cam-sorta'-Cam YahooGroup precursor to Cam-Pride, letting them know that we're setting up shop again. Thanks, Scott! Also, Daniel mentioned another previous Cam-Pride Yahoogroup that I haven't been able to locate.

The following conventions are coming up: NERE (Portland, 8/25-28), NWRE (Portland, 9/8-11), and ICC (Phoenix, 10/27-30). I plan to attend the latter two, so come up and say, "hi!" (I look like the LJ User Picture, only not quite so blue.) Currently, the only Cam-Pride plans I'd really like to push through are the Meet & Greet at ICC. If folks want to hold some other events or activities, whether it be at these conventions or not, let me know and I'll do what I can to help out. Some ideas that have been tossed out are parties, daytrips outside of con-space, raffles, t-shirts (if we get a logo, I'll ask WW if we can take advantage of their discount t-shirt rates), and badges.

I'll be sending something like this out to the group (and eventually the list) a few days before the 1st, then send a formalized report with your feedback to Jer Brown, ANC Communities, on the 1st. So, if you have any advice, suggestions, questions: please let me know.

- Chuck Childers, US2002021015, Cam-Pride Community Liaison

What would you like out of this community? I'm setting the wheels in motion to get an email list on the Camarilla server, and I wouldn't mind arranging events at conventions.

I'll be at NWRE and ICC (oooh, have to reserve rooms). I'm pretty well equipped to throw a room party at NWRE since it's right across the state line from me. However, it'd be more problematic to host a room party in Phoenix. Is that even desireable? Personally, I like parties, even getting moderately liquored with friends, at cons, but I know it isn't everyone's favorite pastime.

Unfortunately, I won't be at NERE or any other Camarilla conventions (at least AFAIK at this point in time).

Daytrips might be fun. Again, I'm pretty comfortable arranging things in Greater Portland, OR, but Phoenix? Not so much.

Any suggestions?

Subject:We're back!

Back in April, I started talking with Wes Contreras, US National Coordinator, about revitalizing the Cam-Pride community. He suggested I hang on until he hired a new ANC Communities. So, now Jer Brown has filled that role, and Wes was good enough to point Jer in my direction for this project.

For those of you who don't know me, my name is Chuck Childers. I've held several positions in the Camarilla, and I'm currently AAMST Settings: Forsaken. I've been a member of the Camarilla since 1995, and I was also a member of the first iteration of Cam-Pride. Outside of the club, I have a job as an IT Manager at a Market Research firm in Portland, OR. I've lived in Portland for just over a year. While I miss living in Seattle terribly, Portland's a beautiful place to live.

Since I have some pretty significant time constraints - both workwise and for the Camarilla - I'd only be able to get the ball rolling and then hand a (hopefully) viable community over to someone else. However, I'm comfortable handling the community liaison duties until the end of the year, at least. Some community activities I'd like to pursue include:

* A LiveJournal community (done!)
* A Cam-Pride email list on official Camarilla mail servers
* Events (daytrips, parties) at regional cons & ICC
* Creation of some identifying spiffage (badges, t-shirts, sum'n)
* Recruitment of volunteers to run the community in my absence

If you have a moment, take a look at the info page for this journal. Please let me know if you'd like any changes. Also, our current LiveJournal customization & style is rather dull. If someone wants to redesign our LJ to better reflect the community, feel free.

Currently, membership in Cam-Pride is moderated, limited to Camarilla members only. Should we open it up? I'm amenable to having an open and welcoming community, but I also realize the convenience (and occasional necessity) of having a safe place to discuss concerns and issues.
